Information Technology (IT) Specialist
Description:
The IT Specialist reports to the Vice President of Information Technology Support and is responsible for provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. Candidate must have the ability to think through problems and come up with innovative solutions, possess a strong learning ability, and be eager to work in a rapidly changing environment.
Responsibilities:
- Install new/rebuild existing Windows 7 workstations and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
- Support of corporate applications, printers, laptops, workstations and mobile devices.
- Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all workstations and server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
- Perform regular file archival and purge as necessary.
- Create, change, and delete user accounts per request.
- Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies.
- Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure/add new desktop applications and services as necessary.
- Planning, design and implementation of corporate infrastructure including state of the art network, business support applications such as messaging scheduling, web development, and video conferencing.
- Handling all aspects of systems administration such as troubleshooting, e-mail, backup, archiving, disaster recovery and security.
Qualifications:
- BA or BS degree, with a technical major, such as engineering or computer science or equivalent work experience.
- 3-5 years of desktop or server support/administration experience.
- Expertise with Microsoft Windows 7, 2003, and 2008. Certifications such as MCSE, MCSA or MCDST desired.
- Broad understanding of technologies across multiple platforms.
- Hands on experience implementing new technologies.
- Strong learning eagerness and desire to work on a team is required.
- Responsibilities sometimes require working evenings and weekends, sometimes with little advanced notice.
- Periodic (quarterly) travel to company offices may be required.
- Must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; prefer candidates with active top secret clearance.
