Systems Engineer for Technology Transfer
Job Description: The systems engineer facilitates the transfer of various sophisticated technologies into the intelligence community. These technologies may include, but are not limited to geospatial analytic tools, video analytic products, large scale data systems, multilingual translation tools, and security products. The technologies emanate from early-stage companies and start-ups.
Responsibilities:
The responsibilities include:
- Build relationships with the management and engineering staffs of various start-up and early-stage companies.
- Build software test plans and test environments, using a variety of hardware and operating systems, in order to conduct tests.
- Architect solutions for and participate in the development of prototyping and integration initiatives.
- Review design documentation, user guides, test plans, test reports, etc. for completeness, accuracy, and utility.
- Test and evaluate sophisticated technology products to ensure compliance with specified requirements as well as general utility and usability.
- Identify resources that will be required to perform acceptance testing, including hardware, software, labor, and travel.
- Capture lessons learned and document them in a way which is easily translated into future requirements.
- Support customer training, installation, and other activities to facilitate technology transfer to end customers.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s Preferred) in MIS, Computer Science, or Computer or Electrical Engineering.
- Ability to install and configure various operating systems, including Windows (XP, 7, Server 2003, Server 2008), and Linux (CentOS, RedHat, Scientific).
- Strong understanding of web technologies (e.g., Apache HTTP, Tomcat, Ruby, REST, Python, Perl).
- Strong understanding of programming languages (e.g., C, Java, C++, Object-C).
- Knowledge of development lifecycle (e.g., SCRUM, Agile, waterfall, etc.).
- Knowledge of test methodologies, including installation, user acceptance, and system integration testing.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to obtain a TS/SCI Government Security Clearance.
