Bay Microsystems is a privately held communications technology company delivering the building blocks of programmable packet processors, software, and subsystems for secure high-performance intelligent networks. These solutions are targeted for network-centric operations within the broadband communication equipment and supercomputing markets. Bay’s Internetworking Processor™ (InP) Family of products is scalable, intelligent, and ultra-high-performance, and is in use within broadband networks developed by the U.S. Government and by commercial providers serving the metro-edge, metro-core, regional, and long-haul markets.
Montego, Bay’s flagship OC192c/16G internetworking processor, has been shipping since April 2002; the Internetworking System, Bay’s 20Gbps Mediation Gateway system product, was release in September 2002; Biscayne™, Bay’s classification processor, began sampling in August 2004; and development for 40Gbps to 100Gbps solutions is underway.
Biscayne was named product of the year by NetworkZone for Traffic Management. Montego was awarded the Innovation of the Year award by EDN Magazine for Network Processors.
Bay Microsystems was founded in January 2000 and is headed by CEO Chuck Gershman. Bay is headquartered in Santa Clara, California, and maintains a system development group in Rockville, Maryland.
