IntegenX

The NanoBioProcessor™ technology

IntegenX (formerly known as MBI) was founded in July 2003 to apply a microchip-based fluidic technology based on Microscale On-chip Valves (MOVe™) and pumps for sample preparation and analysis in the major life science and molecular diagnostics markets. IntegenX licensed exclusive world-wide rights for key MOVe™ and other patents from U. C. Berkeley, Capillary electrophoresis patents from GE Healthcare, and has developed its own portfolio of intellectual property based on microfluidic sample handling.

IntegenX has strengthened the core Apollo platform for several years through grants and contracts from NIH, DoD, HSARPA, and Northrop Grumman so that it can be applied to many growing major markets, including, for example, DNA sequencing, biodefense, forensics, clinical and point-of-care molecular diagnostics. For biodefense and forensics, IntegenX is coupling a front-end bead-based microfluidic sample preparation device, called BeadStorm™, to a proprietary and efficient microscale PCR and capillary electrophoresis detector for portable Human DNA Identification. This system will provide automatic sample-to-answer DNA profile processing for Short Tandem Repeat (STR) analysis for up to eight samples simultaneously.

IntegenX’s first commercial product, the Apollo 100 System, automates the preparation and purification of nanoscale cycle sequencing samples for DNA sequencing. Future laboratory and portable products will incorporate advanced fluorescence detectors for forensic, life science and molecular diagnostic applications.

IntegenX is located in Pleasanton, California. IQT initially invested in IntegenX in July 2006. For more information about IntegenX, please visit www.integenx.com.
