Microbial whole genome comparative analysis
OpGen is commercializing a novel single molecule DNA analysis technology, "Optical Mapping", for rapid identification and analysis of microorganisms. The system provides detailed genetic information, with no requirement for prior sequence data, PCR, cloning, or probes, and allows high-resolution comparison of entire microbial genomes to detect the rearrangements responsible for most microbial genetic variation.
OpGen, headquartered in Madison Wisconsin, is developing instrumentation and disposable lab-cards for automated microbial ID and antibiotic resistance testing in the clinical microbiology market, for forensic microbiology and plans to develop novel molecular diagnostic products.
