Sonitus Medical

Developer of the SoundBite™hearing & communication platform that imperceptibly transmits sound via the teeth through a nearly invisible, removable, in the mouth (ITM) device

Sonitus Medical Inc. is a privately held medical device company developing the SoundBite™ hearing system, a non-surgical and removable hearing solution that imperceptibly transmits sound via the teeth. Relying on the principle of bone conduction, this nearly invisible in the mouth (ITM) hearing & communication platform is initially intended as a simple and non-invasive treatment that would restore normal hearing to people with hearing disorders such as single sided deafness, conductive or mixed hearing loss, and tinnitus, which is the perception of persistent ringing, hissing, or buzzing in the ears sometimes caused by exposure to loud noise. This device is currently for investigational use only and is currently undergoing clinical trials intended to support an initial filing for FDA 510(k) clearance for single sided deafness. With 28 US patent applications filed to date, potential future applications include consumer and covert communications.

Founded in June 2006, Sonitus Medical is headquartered in San Mateo, California. In-Q-Tel initially invested in Sonitus Medical in March 2009. For more information about Sonitus Medica please visit www.sonitusmedical.com.
