Videogame developer and publisher Destineer today announced it has signed a strategic development agreement with In-Q-Tel, a private venture group funded by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).
Destineer develops and publishes 3-D games for personal computers and videogame consoles. Its first internally-developed game, Close Combat: First to Fight, was created with the help of more than 40 active-duty United States Marines and is based on their recent combat experiences.
“We create highly realistic, action-oriented training simulations that provide unique gaming experiences”, said Destineer President, Peter Tamte. “Our partnership with In-Q-Tel will enhance our technology and expand the work we do with the federal government.”

Destineer® was created in 2001 by Peter Tamte, who was executive vice-president of Bungie Software, makers of the best-selling videogame Halo, before forming Destineer. The company is managed today by Mr. Tamte and CEO Paul Rinde, formerly a senior vice-president of Atari.
